Looking for a cheap drugstore Contour & Highlight – for my personal Makeup Kit

I have been meaning to start making youtube videos for my makeup art channel for a while.
Of course I wanted to start with some makeup application – like one of my usual routines…

Then I realized that I am missing something very important – products for contouring & highlighting…

I did have this pressed powder by LLUMS… but it wasn’t pigmented enough and so I decided to use it for one experiment which wasn’t successful.

So I went to the drugstore in a search for affordable contour & highlighter. By affordable I mean the cheapest I could find. I was hoping to get two separate sticks or at least something in a creamy form because I wasn’t happy with the powder.

I was also looking or something that is suitable for oily skin – sadly there was nothing of that sort in this store…

I started with the Golden Rose stand because usually they have the most affordable things and because this is a brand that I grew up with. My first ever eye-shadow palette was by Golden Rose.

I remember I recently got a nice lipstick by them but I gave it to my mom. I also did get a foundation stick and I have no idea what happened with it… hmm I should look for it…

They didn’t have any sculpting products, what they had was liquid foundation and the foundation sticks. The price of the liquid foundation was ok – definitely what I was looking for – around $3 / 2.5โ‚ฌ (I live in a small European country this is not too cheap by local standards) .

There was a difference between the lightest and the darkest shade but the colours appeared kinda orange-ish and there was no informationย  about the skin type that this foundation is made for so I didn’t bother with it.

I looked at the foundation sticks again and they did appear too oily and not a bog variety of shades so it wouldn’t have worked.

I moved on to the Essence stand.

Sadly there wasn’t anything suitable there.

At least not for highlighting & contouring.

Next to it was some brand that I have never used and it’s stand did appear rather recently. It was ‘Pretty by Flormar’ I think with a dot somewhere in there.

They had some really nice things ๐Ÿ™‚ including a highlighter and contour stick ๐Ÿ™‚

The only bad part was the price – $7 / 6โ‚ฌ

I wasn’t prepared to spend that much, not today, so I moved on ๐Ÿ™

I did like the product and I might return at some point
to look for it when I can buy it.

Then I stopped at Maybelline
and they did have a section for sculpting products ๐Ÿ™‚

They had powders which I din’t pay much attention to…

What I did like was this – master contour duo-stick.

It had contour on one side and highlight on the other which looked pretty neat ๐Ÿ™‚

However I did think about applying it and realized that this is not suitable for me.

I don’t feel confident that I could apply one side without getting annoying transfer from the other.

Even if I use a brush I have to use somewhat equal amounts each time so that the stick doesn’t change it’s shape too much. Just the idea of one product having to rely on the other in that way didn’t seem practical to me.

The price was the highest so far but considering it is 2 in 1 it wasn’t bad at all – $9 / 8โ‚ฌ.

Lat stand I wen to was the LLUMS stand.

I was looking and looking and finally I saw this little spot towards the bottom of the stand where they had highlighters ๐Ÿ™‚

I took the highlighter stick and had a good look at it, tested the color and really liked it.

It was – $3 / 2.5โ‚ฌ ๐Ÿ™‚

I was so hoping that there will be a contour right next to the highlighter but there wan’t one…

The other options were to expensive so I picked a highlighter but had no contour…

Here are all the things I got from the store:

Highlighter & Makeup Fixing Spray by LLUMS, Makeup removal sponges, Cotton pads, Antibacterial wet wipes and of course – some pastry with chocolate ๐Ÿ™‚

Just before I left the store I saw in the Rimmel stand this mini eyebrow palette and I remembered I got the same one but it was too dark so I only used it once…

It has creamy color on one side and powder on the other… so I decided that I may try to use it as a contour…

If that doesn’t work I’m just going to go with strobing for the time being ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you for stopping by
